τρελή Έλληνες – Crazy Greeks!

Posted by: Alyssa Cashman on: May 23, 2009

Here’s a little Greek pop culture for all of you. They listen to American music ALL the time, but there are a few popular Greek songs I’ve become familiar with. This song is played incessantly in the clubs: As well as this one. They LOVE this guy. Inspirational, no? This is another one. Totally lewd, [...]

Cashman Chaos – Pt. II

Posted by: Alyssa Cashman on: May 20, 2009

Our final day of the cruise, we traveled to Crete and Santorini. I was a little disappointed by Crete and amazed by Santorini.  We docked at Heraklion, the capital of Crete, on Sunday morning. I think if we had been able to get outside of the city, I would’ve liked the island better, but Heraklion [...]

Cashman Chaos

Posted by: Alyssa Cashman on: May 19, 2009

Well the week-long Cashman conquest of Greece has come to a close, and of course, there are plenty of stories to be divulged. From my dad’s endearing, yet overeager attempts at the Greek language to my mom’s shock at the amount of traffic and the rudeness of some Greeks, it was fascinating to see them [...]

And the Countdown Begins

Posted by: Alyssa Cashman on: May 11, 2009

Since Mykonos, it’s been a really quiet week. I haven’t had much homework, but it’s been nice to relax and catch up on my sleep since spring break.  Friday night we went to Club Vogue.  It was super glam inside the cavernous club. There was a live band performing Greek and English covers and then [...]

on a more personal note…

It’s strange, the way this place completes me. There are times when I hate it so much – the crowded buses, the everlasting communication gap. And I found so many places in Europe where I fell in love. Greece to me, is like that odd or overbearing relative you’re forced to love… and yet, you [...]

Mykonos: the island that never sleeps.. except on the beach

Posted by: Alyssa Cashman on: May 5, 2009

Well, only a few short days after I returned from spring break, many from our program took off on a student government trip to Mykonos.  I had heard such outlandish things about this legendary island, first put on the map by Jackie O, I couldn’t wait! Unfortunately, all things come with a price, and ours [...]

Bonjour! Parlez Vous Francais?

Posted by: Alyssa Cashman on: May 4, 2009

Our final stop of spring break was Paris, the city of love. Now, I didn’t fall in love with anybody while I was there, but I definitely am in love with the city.  Everything was so beautiful and romantic, just like I’d always dreamed it would be like. And the people aren’t anything like the [...]

A Sunny Day in London Town

Posted by: Alyssa Cashman on: May 4, 2009

We spent 24 hours in London – which was, at the same time, enough for me, but also not nearly enough time to get past the tourist attractions. We landed in London in the morning and were lost for a while as we had taken the wrong train to the wrong station. We finally found [...]
